Pearlington, MS Mission Work 2007 and 2008

WHAT HAPPENED
Overview
In 2007 twenty-nine (18 in 2008) First Pres members and friends traveled
to Pearlington, MS by air or car to start a relationship
between our team members and members of the Pearlington
community in need of post hurricane assistance. The
general itinerary was as follows:
- Sunday: Chicago to Pearlington;
Orientation with the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
(PDA) staff and on the camp site, site operations
and site surroundings.
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:
Do cleanup, painting, and home reconstruction work
on individual residences as assigned by PDA's coordinator;
Thursday dinner celebration with the assisted familes.
- Friday: Morning: Tie off projects
and clean up work sites. Afternoon: Extensive tour
of New Orleans damage areas lead in 2007 by Pastor Cliff
Nunn of the First Presbyterian Church of New Orleans, and in 2008 by Michelle Baker and David Price of the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church;
Evening: Dinner in the French Quarter; then packing
up for departure.
- Saturday, 8 AM: Pearlington to
Chicago
