• 1884 - Phillip Kemmerer left his 400 acre farm and all his assets to Presbyterian Churches of Central Illinois to create a home “for the orphans and friendless poor of all denominations”
• 1914 - Kemmerer Orphan’s Home opened wide to 30 orphaned children.
• 1954 - Kemmerer Children’s Home offered ranch style cottages to the resident children.
• 1968 - the children asked that “children’s home stigma” be removed. The name was changed to Kemmerer Village.
• 2008- Kemmerer Village has 60 children in residential cottages, services 110 children daily through 11 child care programs and has ministered to 3,500 children over the years.
• All they ask of us is to save the items below that we might otherwise throw away.

How you can help - Please be a part of this successful mission project.  Continue to clip and save only the UPC part of the labels and save the official Box Tops for Education logo, both as shown below. Also, save caps of many colors from the products you find listed in the table below.

As an example, Campbell’s and General Mills are two of the companies that cover many products and brands in this program in cans, boxes, and bottles.  Don’t throw labels, box tops, and caps away. They are worth either one cent or five cents.

Campbell’s Labels - We collect the UPC with the little Campbell’s Logo attached, as you see below. Campbell’s will no long accept the full front label panel. Labels are used to collect points for ordering school, cottage and recreational items. In the past we have ordered encyclopedias, reference books, computers, educational software, balls and games.

Box Tops for Education - Money from this fund is used for the Accelerated Reading Program. Children are learning to read who previously had little or no interest in reading.

Every first Sunday, in the rotunda, there will be a container to collect what you have saved. During the week you may leave what you have clipped in the church office.  We will see that your gift reaches Kemmerer Village.
