Second Chance Prom
January 27, 2007
| Every year, our WF program (high school ministry)
does a fundraiser to support their annual mission trip in June.
The 2007 trip will be to Westmoreland, TN,
to rebuild homes and restore hope. Instead of the traditional
spaghetti dinner they hosted a Second Chance Prom with a theme
of Old Hollywood on the evening of January 27, 2007.
This was designed as an opportunity for adults
to attend a prom of their own. All couples and individuals were
welcomed and encouraged to invite friends from the community.
The teens transformed the Rotunda, Link, and
Stewart Hall into the red carpet and Hollywood hills and sold
tickets (by donation only) before and after worship services
wearing prom clothing. They also provided childcare for children
ages 0-14 downstairs in different rooms, and the children enjoyed
snacks and fellowship with other children.

Those in attendance enjoyed dancing to many different types
of music. This dance appears to be a swing. |

|
Line dancing was also enjoyed by the crowd. |
|
|
Much of the music was from the 1980's, along with typical
wedding songs.
Many dances were done, including the
Twist, Chicken Dance, Electric Slide, and Macarena.
Food was hors d'ouvres, just to tide people over, as
most had eaten before coming to the Second Chance Prom, which
began at 7:00 p.m.

A great time was had by all, and the youth are
looking forward to doing this again next year. Donations were
made in excess of $4000 to support the high school youth mission
trip to Westmoreland, TN.
