Centennial Sunday
April 19, 2009
Food Drive and Trolleys

Because everyone was attending the same worship service, off-site parking and trolley service were made available
from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. from the south parking lot of the Wheaton Bowl at Gary Avenue and Geneva Road. The trolleys took people to the church and dropped them off at the northwest
corner of Madison and Ellis. The 9:45 a.m. trolley was the last
trolley to leave Wheaton Bowl in order to arrive on time for the 10:00 a.m. Worship Service.

Because the day was overcast and rainy, it was especially helpful to have the additional parking option available.

As part of our Centennial Celebration the members of First Presbyterian Church also were asked to commit
to filling 100 shopping carts in honor of our 100 years and in hopes of helping 100 of our neighbors.
This commitment could be fulfilled by either filling the cart with food, donating money so that food
pantries can buy items, or through a commitment to volunteer at a food pantry of their
choice.
The food drive was very successful. We got about 40 carts of food, $2800 in donations, and 15 volunteers.

The food that had been donated was delivered to the People's Resource Center via the trolley service that we had hired for Centennial Sunday. |
Our thanks to Tom Fiola, Phyllis Josephson,
and Bob Stevens for the photos!
