Roseland Community "Good News" Day Care Center
Christmas 2008 Mission

The mission work of Presbyterian Women (PW) includes caring for individuals, our church, our community, and people in need throughout the world.

Books collected for Roseland Community Good News Day Care Center

Prior to Christmas PW had a drive with a donation box in the Rotunda to collect 100 books for the Roseland Community "Good News" Day Care Center in conjunction with our church's centennial.  We actually collected a total of 418 books!  After the families had finished shopping at our Christmas Sharing mission, while the items left were being boxed up, Sue Drinan and Kathleen Schwartz pulled things for the Day Care Center, knowing we were going to deliver the books.  We wound up with more books, making it over 500 books, plus clothing and accessories  for the children and the moms.  We really had a mission within a mission going!

Pearl Willis, the founder and director of Roseland Community "Good News" Day Care Center, traveled to Israel with a group from First Presbyterian Church in 2008.  She also spoke about about the Day Care Center at the Presbyterian Women meeting in October 2008.

The Roseland Community “Good News” Day Care Center provides free day care for children of teenage moms, college moms, and low income moms in the Roseland community on the south side of Chicago.  Their mission is to provide Christ- centered child care in a nuturing environment and to give encouragement and hope back to their community.  More information can be found on their website at http://www.roselanddaycare.org.
