Angel Tree is a ministry to the children of
prisoners. It is one of several programs that
is a part of Chuck Colson’s Prison Fellowship
Ministries. Angel Tree was started back in 1982
and is has served millions of children over the
years and over half a million during Christmas
2003.
This was our first year involved with Angel Tree,
and because of your help we were able to serve
21 children! On December 20, 2003, we had an Angel
Tree party for the children and their caretakers
in Stewart Hall. There was plenty of food, fun,
and fellowship at the party; and a wonderful time
was had by all. Thank you to everybody who made
this event possible! Each child received the following
gifts:
- A clothing item from their father (on our
behalf)
- A fun gift from their father (on our behalf)
- A staying connected pack which contained stationary,
stamps and a disposable camera so they could
stay in touch with their dad while he is away.
This gift was from our congregation
- Age appropriate ministry materials from us
- Each family received a Bible from us
Angel Tree isn’t just for Christmas time anymore;
they offer year-round opportunities for us to
stay involved in these children’s lives, including
preparing Easter baskets, a summer camping program,
and a mentoring program. One in 40 children in
the United States has a parent in prison.
Angel Tree is now a mission partner of First
Presbyterian Church, with opportunities
to help available throughout the year. To
