Gary Burge, author and professor of New Testament
at Wheaton College, spoke to over 300 people at
First Presbyterian Church on his timely and controversial
new book, Whose Land? Whose Promise? What
Christians Are Not Being Told About Israel and
the Palestinians on Saturday, January
24, 2004.
A delicious breakfast was prepared by the Men's
Breakfast Group at First Presbyterian. Book sales
and signing followed the breakfast.
Hand-carved olive wood items and hand-stitched
work was available for sale. The items come from
Bethlehem, where this is the Christians' only
means of support.
Over $12,000 was raised, a part of which will
be used by the Pilgrims of Ibillin, Olive Branch
Chapter, to purchase the main altar/communion
table for Father Elias Chacour's church at Mar
Elias Schools in Galilee. We pray that this table
can become a symbol of peace for those who come
to it in a common bond of faith. Pilgrims of Ibillin,
Olive Branch Chapter, helps to support Father
Elias Chacour's school in Ibillin.
