Centennial Tree - October 2008

Our Centennial Tree was planted by landscapers on Friday, October 3, 2008, and dedicated on Sunday, October 5, 2008, in ceremonies following both the 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. worship services.  The tree is located in the church courtyard.

The photo, which usually hangs just outside Stewart Hall, is of Lt. Gilbert Monroe Cole, an aviator killed in action over Germany in 1944.  The information in the frame shows that the Gilbert M. Cole Memorial Chapel was dedicated on Sunday, July 29, 1945, "in honor of all in the service of our country." This outdoor chapel was in the Friendship Garden at our church's prior location on Hale Street.
