Genesis Mission Project - July 31, 2008
Feed My Starving Children

Genesis volunteers participated in a mission project working at Feed My Starving Children on July 31, 2008FMSC is a Christian nonprofit hunger relief organization founded in 1987.  In 2007 185,000 volunteers joined FMSC to package more than 43 million meals for children around the world.  More than half of FMSC volunteers are under the age of 18.  Our volunteers packaged bags of food in an assembly line - measuring ingredients, pouring ingredients into bags, weighing bags, sealing bags, and boxing food to be shipped.

We worked at the first permanent Illinois location of Feed My Starving Children at 555 Exchange Court, Aurora, IL, 630-851-0404.  More information about this organization is available on their website at www.fmsc.org.

Our volunteers prepared to work following proper food-handling requirements. We had all worn close-toed shoes as required for safety reasons.
Our Genesis volunteers enjoyed working together, especially knowing that their efforts would feed starving children around the world.

By the time we are ready to leave, boxes of food were neatly stacked ready for shipment; and the work area was clean and shining again.

Our thanks to Mary Kinsey for the photos!
