Mission Project - Church Cleanup
August 14, 2007
Our Genesis middle schoolers participate in
a variety of mission programs throughout the year. On
Start-up Sunday, September 9, 2007, Genesis
held a bake sale during the fellowship and
coffee hour, raising money
to be used for Scovia Twongirwe, our
child from Uganda sponsored through Compassion
International, as well as various other mission projects
throughout the year.
Genesis members participated in a mission project
cleaning up the church grounds and enhancing the preschool
on August 14, 2007. They
provided their own yard waste bags, garden gloves,
and trowels and came to church dressed in old clothes
ready to work. Afterwards they enjoyed
pizza and “gutter” banana splits.

Monica Moore, Amy Smith, Danny Nubie, and Curt Gravit
worked on weeding on the east side of the church, along
with our 8th grade Sunday school teacher, Jerry Meyer,
helping to get the church area spruced up before our
September Start-up Sunday.
In the background you can see the work being done on our the Rotunda Concrete project. The concrete steps and walkways around the Rotunda had been cracking
and collapsing, and the foundations of the railings along those steps were becoming exposed and weakened. We had the concrete and railing work at the entrances of the Rotunda removed and rebuilt, with experts helping us determine the best structural changes to make sure that this would not happen again. The project was
completed in August 2007. |

Monica Moore and Amy Smith also worked on fixing
things up for the preschool. In the photo on
the right they are finishing painting a table for
the preschoolers. |
