In the pouring rain on September 25, 2009, 36 youth and 6 adults from First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton along with 12 youth and 2 leaders from Elmhurst Presbyterian loaded up a bus and headed up to Timber-lee Christian Retreat Center to "Jumpstart" our year in Genesis. There we had our favorite band, Daniel's Window, lead us in worship and listened to Dave Creek talk about looking past all our distractions, keeping our eyes on Jesus, and making our youth group a place to be safe and loved.
We played games and did a team building course all the while remembering the 5 "C"s - commitment, caring, challenge, cooperation, and communication - makes a better friend, makes a better friendship. Later we broke into four teams and played a wild game of "box ball." Yeah, blue team!!!
In the afternoon there was horseback riding, archery, canoeing, paddle boating, and a visit to the nature center to "play" with the animals. There was also fun in "Acorn" playing our favorite carpet ball.
The food was the best, especially the nachos and make your own sundaes during karaoke!!
We love Timber-lee and will be back for the Winter Xtreme retreat January 8 -10, 2010. Timber-lee Christian Center is located in East Troy, Wisconsin. Additional information about it can be found on its website at http://www.timber-lee.com.
