Grace Circle Mission - Helping Nicaraguan Babies September 2008

The members of Grace Circle brought onesies, new baby outfits, hats, diaper pins, pacifiers, and rattles to their September meeting to help Nicaraguan babies. Jeanne Kovanda, one of their members, shipped these items to Austin Samaritans, where they were assembled into about 30 layettes by wrapping the items in receiving blankets.
Jeanne’s friends Dr. Geoffrey and Elizabeth Erwin then took these layettes on the annual fall Austin Samaritans’ mission trip to Managua, Nicaragua. Dr. Erwin, an OB/GYN, helps in the clinics, so he and his wife can personally deliver the layettes to new moms. The clothes in these layettes may be the only clothes that some new babies have; some less fortunate babies go home wrapped in newspaper!
