| Our Centennial Grande Salon Art Exhibition, a combination art auction and bistro, was attended and enjoyed by about 140 people despite heavy snow that day. This combination exhibit and buffet dinner on January 10, 2009, was held for the enjoyment of our church members and to fund expenses incurred or yet to be incurred for our Centennial Celebration.
About 20 talented artists from our church had donated pieces from painting to sculpture, banners to ceramics, photos to jewelry, which were all on display. The attendees feasted on the buffet and mingled with the artists as they wandered through the area.
There were around 50 art items included in the auction. The guests were given the opportunity to bid on most of the donated works in a silent auction. Lively bidding and counter bidding made for a fun time as people scurried to snatch a treasured bargain.
Finally, Robb Frank, in true auctioneer fashion, placed twelve larger offerings up for sale individually in a live auction. The bidding was competitive and very profitable for the church. About $3200 was raised on that evening; but just as important was the opportunity for our members to share their talents, for others to take home a cherished object, and for everyone to enjoy wonderful fellowship.
