The Time of the Judges…
Lessons for Life Found in the Heroes of an Era
September 2008
During the four Sundays of September 2008 Dr. Paul Kirbas introduced
the essential characteristics of the Old Testament book of Judges. Actors, who were all church members, portrayed several of the heroes of this period of
Biblical history, namely Deborah, Gideon, and Samson. The book of Judges ends with
a real cliff-hanger in which no leader is visible and Israel is left like sheep
without a shepherd.
The final Sunday of September presented a villager who was
expressing the anxiety of Israel because no leader was apparent.
