| Hugs, memories, and some tears were shared, along with
sandwiches, vegetables, and other treats, at the farewell reception
for Jerry and Carolyn Landrey on August 27, 2006.
Jerald B. Landrey became our Interim Pastor, Head of Staff,
in February 2005; and he and Carolyn quickly became very much
a part of our church family. From his first sermon on February
20, 2005, “If you Love Someone, LISTEN!” to his final sermon at
First Presbyterian on August 27, 2006, "Don't Miss the Joy,"
he helped lead our congregation back to rejoicing in the certainty
of our "relationship with Jesus Christ, His promise of joy,
and the inner peace that follows."
We congratulate the people of Church of the Palms, Sarasota,
Florida, because, although they are losing their Senior Pastor,
Dr. Paul J. Kirbas, their Interim Pastor Nominating Committee
moved amazingly rapidly and succeeded in convincing Jerry to accept
their call as Interim Senior Pastor of their church.
As suggested on a stuffer in our August 20 bulletin and on
our website, virtually the entire congregation, as well as the
staff and ministers, dressed in bright, colorful Florida clothing
for the services on August 27 to prepare Jerry and Carolyn for
their new Florida lifestyle.
