Pres Fest 2002
|
Our annual all-church picnic, Pres
Fest 2002, was held in the Ministry
Center and Stewart Hall on Homecoming
Sunday, September 8, 2002. The fall
church picnic has always been one of
the biggest social gatherings of the
year, and the 2002 "Homecoming
Sunday Picnic" added a few more
superlatives to the history book. Sponsored
by the Deacons, the outing provided
an opportunity for fun and fellowship
with others in the congregation. The
children's games began early and were
enjoyed by both kids and adults. Music
was provided by the band, and the food
tables were laden with all the delicious
home-cooked goodies that may never appear
on the regular diet-conscious plates
at home.

The highlight of the
party was the recognition
of Pastor Kate Lindberg's
ten years of service at
First Presbyterian Church.
Doug Brouwer, Bob Young,
Ann Flansburg, and several
others who shared assignments
with Kate all gave some
remembrances on the ways
that Kate had served and
improved our church. Although
the program was a light
hearted spoof of Kate's
desire to "Have a
Ball," the congregation
had the opportunity to
give sincere thanks for
her work and presented
her with an engraved necklace
and huge scrapbook full
of congratulatory notes
and fond remembrances.
Many thanks go to the
Deacons and all the others
who helped with this event.
