Scout Sunday - February 1, 2009

Scout Sunday

As members of First Presbyterian Church, we have sponsored Boy Scout Troop 23 since 1955 and Cub Scout Pack 63 since 1943.  Scout Sunday was celebrated nationwide on February 1, 2009.  Our church recognizes and honors all our Scouts: Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Explorers.

Each week the boys and adult leaders in Pack 63 and Troop 23 gather at the church to learn Scout skills, work on community service, requirements for ranks, and just have fun together.  Pack 63 has 37 Cub Scouts (boys in grades 1-5) and 17 Registered Leaders.  Troop 23 has 56 Boy Scouts (boys ages 11-17) and 45 Registered Adult Leaders.

Additional information on Cub Scout Pack 63 is available on their website at http://www.scoutpack63.org, and further information on Boy Scout Troop 23 is online at http://www.troop23wheaton.org.

The church was decorated and ready for Scout Sunday prior to the earliest worship service.
The scouts served their delicious scout-made donuts, along with coffee and tea, between the 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. worship services.

Our thanks to Bob Stevens for the photos and to Bob Stevens
and Mike Zenisek for the information!
