Subscribing to the podcasts:

If Step 2 at the Podcasts page did not work, try this:

1. Open iTunes

2. Click “Advanced” in the upper left corner of the iTunes page

     3. Click “Subscribe to Podcast…”

4. Enter http://www.firstpreswheaton.org/podcasts/RSS into the text box for the sermons podcast or http://www.firstpreswheaton.org/podcasts/ADEDRSS into the text box for the adult education podcasts.

5. Click “OK,” and your subscription is complete!

Setting Preferences.  If you wish to subscribe to ongoing sermons but are worried about having your computer being tied up for too many downloads, this is not a problem.  On your iTunes software just go to Edit, then Preferences, then Podcasts.  You select how often you want iTunes to check for new episodes (every hour, every day, every week, or manually).  You tell iTunes what to do when new episodes are found (download all, download the most recent one, or do nothing).  You also tell iTunes what to keep (all episodes, all unplayed episodes, the most recent episode, or the last 2-10 episodes). 

Unsubscribing is also easy to do if you wish to stop receiving podcast downloads, at least for a while.  Just click on the Podcasts line on the left side of your iTunes software under LIBRARY.  Select a podcast or episode, and then click Unsubscribe (at the bottom of the iTunes window).

Can’t use iTunes on your computer?

iTunes is the most highly recommended software for its convenience and ease of use.  However, if for some reason you are unable to install iTunes on your computer, the podcast episodes can also be played using a variety of other software, including the Quicktime player or the VLC media player (which probably will require the installation of unicows.dll for computers running Windows 98 or ME). Please note, however, that when using these players you will first need to download the episodes manually from the RSS feed (http://www.firstpreswheaton.org/podcasts/RSS for the sermons or http://www.firstpreswheaton.org/podcasts/ADEDRSS for the adult education classes).  Not all internet browsers can view feeds, but some known ones are the most recent versions of Apple’s Safari, Mozilla’s Firefox, and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (but not Internet Explorer 6 or earlier versions).  Once again, it is highly recommended that you use iTunes.
